Lakeview man killed in highspeed crash
High speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a crash that killed a Lakeview man early Tuesday morning, state police said.
Troopers said the car broke in half and the 42-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.
The crash happened just after 3 a.m. on Canfield Road north of Wheeler Road, east of Sheridan in Ionia County.
“Preliminary investigation revealed the 42-yearold male was driving northbound on Canfield Road at a high rate of speed when his vehicle left the roadway to the left,” police said.
“The vehicle struck a tree and separated in half. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.”
He was transported to the hospital where he died.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in this crash, police said. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Michigan State Police continues to investigate this crash. Troopers were assisted by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office, Belding Police Department, Life Ambulance, Orleans Twp. Fire Department, and Ionia County Central Dispatch.
