Greentree Co-op Market officially opens doors
Grand opening celebration at Broadway site was Wednesday
Greentree Co-op Market has officially opened at its new location on Broadway Street.
The market is a cooperatively owned grocery store in Mt. Pleasant that provides organic and natural food, body products, supplements, cleaners, and household products. Greentree also has a Grab-n-go Deli, which provides quick meal options, and a cafe area where customers can sit and enjoy their food and drinks.
Greentree Co-op Market has been serving the Mt. Pleasant area since the 1970s and previously had a location on Franklin Street before they moved to their new location at 410 W. Broadway Street.
“It’s been a decade in the making bringing the
store here,” Greentree general manager Sarah Christensen said. “It’s been an exciting rollercoaster. There’s been some obstacles with the pandemic but it’s been worth it.”
The building, which is shared with Broadway Lofts, has been under construction since 2020. The building still has some final finishes but both businesses are ready fully operational.
The market celebrated their official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 8 from noon to 2 p.m. A large turnout of community members came to shop and support the grand opening.
“We love the turn out. It’s a beautiful sight,” Christensen said.
The business is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., 7 days a week.
