2021 to end dry and chilly
Chilly, dry weather is expected to help ring in 2022, with the week’s highest temperatures on Monday and generally sliding downhill from there. Mid-michigan’s best chances for precipitation is rain early, with a dry, partially sunny New Year’s Day predicted.
Today is expected to be this week’s highest temperature with a predicted high of right around 37 degrees.
It’s also anticipated to have the highest chance of precipitation, with a 92 percent chance of snow at 3 a.m., which is expected to fall to around 50 percent at 9 a.m., when it would change to rain.
The rest of the week is expected to remain mostly dry with a low chance of precipitation throughout. During the following six days, Tuesday night should offer the week’s second-best shot at precipitation, with a 39 percent chance of rain.
Temperatures are expected to gradually decline after today, with highs above freezing predicted
each day until Thursday, when it is expected to hit no higher than 31 degrees.
Nighttime lows are expected below freezing every night, starting at 31 degrees today and falling to the high teens by Saturday night.
That means, New Year’s Eve should be a chilly, but dry, evening. Friday’s high temperature is expected to be 31 degrees with a nighttime low of 19 degrees.
Winds are expected to be relatively calm this week.
Monday morning before dawn is expected to see the week’s roughest winds, blowing 12 mph out of the east southeast. Thursday noon is currently expected to see similar winds, but blowing from the west southwest.
