Unvaccinated young person among 19 new deaths
Fifteen of the other deaths were also unvaccinated
A young adult was among 19 recent deaths attributed to COVID-19 across Isabella and Clare counties. Sixteen of those deaths, including the young adult, hadn’t received their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Twelve of those deaths involved Isabella County residents, said Steve Hall, health officer for Central Michigan District Health Department. That includes the young adult.
Ten of those people were unvaccinated, including the young adult, Hall said. More than half were middle aged or younger. They include three middle-aged men and two middle-aged women. Two elderly women and two elderly men were the other four.
The two deaths involving vaccinated people both were elderly men.
Six of the seven Clare County deaths involved unvaccinated people, Hall said. The vaccinated person was an elderly woman.
The unvaccinated deaths included three elderly men, one elderly woman, one middle-aged man and one middle-aged woman.
A total of 156 Isabella County residents and
135 Clare County residents have died from COVID-19 according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 dashboard.
CMDHD serves Clare and Isabella counties plus Arenac, Gladwin, Osceola and Roscommon.
A total of 154 Gratiot County residents have died from COVID-19. Midmichigan District Health Department serves Gratiot County and hasn’t released information about COVID-19 deaths since before Christmas 2020.
A cumulative total of 10,181 confirmed cases have been reported in Isabella County, a cumulative total of 5,952 confirmed cases have been reported in Gratiot County and a cumulative total of 4,593 confirmed cases have been reported in Clare County.
