Approximately 500 people walked from the center of Central Michigan University’s campus to downtown Mt. Pleasant on Monday afternoon to celebrate the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. While in town center, two women spoke about the power of love.

The march, which takes place every Jan. 17, was part of a week of activities on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. A morning rally took place in Finch Fieldhouse and other events — including the viewing of a film about him — are scheduled throughout the week.
