Deputies from the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly putting his girlfriend into a headlock during an argument and for preventing her from calling 911.

They were called to an apartment in the 4000 block of South Crawford Road at approximately 5:53 p.m. last Wednesday, said Sheriff Michael Main in an email.

Once there, the 24-year-old woman told them that she and her 30-year-old boyfriend started arguing and that during the argument she tried to take away their infant from him after he picked the child up.

The man broke household items and the woman told deputies that he threw some of them at her, Main said.

He also put her into a headlock, which caused breathing problems on her part, he said. She also told deputies that he took her phone and prevented her from calling Central Dispatch.
