An argument between two Meijer employees involved one throwing a jar of human waste on the other’s pants and shoes inside the store.

The argument took place at approximately 12:44 a.m. Thursday morning at the Mt. Pleasant Meijer, 1015 E. Pickard Road.

No one could tell responding officers from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department what started the argument early Thursday morning, only that one employee yelled something incomprehensible at another employee, grabbed his shirt and splashed a jar of what appeared to contain feces and urine on his pants and shirt.

Some of the waste splashed up on the aisle nine shelving, according to a police report about the

incident.

Meijer employees cleaned it up by the time police arrived, the report said.

The employee who was assaulted told officers that he had no idea what agitated the other man, but said that he’d asked him to help him jumpstart his van previously. The man accused of hurling the waste had apparently said something about the van during the assault.

Shortly after throwing the waste

on him, the other man grabbed his wrist and forced him out of the area, the assaulted man told police.

The employee who threw the jarred waste was fired on the spot, the manager told officers.

He started working at the store at the end of October and previously had accused a fellow employee of stealing his cigarettes.

The employee who was assaulted is a longtime employee with whom management has had no problems, the manager said.

The night manager told officers that the assaultive ex-employee also said a second Meijer employee had something similar coming to them.
