Menna’s Joint the latest victim of restaurant carnage

Other locations closed as well

For weeks, rumors have swirled concerning the future of the place that for years billed itself as “The Only Legal Joint in Town.”

A sign hanging in the window of Menna’s Joint, 1418 S. Mission St., confirms that the wrap called The Dub is no longer available. Menna’s Joint closed at the end of 2021.

When it went, it appears that it didn’t go alone. Calls to the other two locations mentioned on the Menna’s Facebook page — one in Kalamazoo and one in Grand Rapids — were both greeted with, “The number you are trying to reach has been disconnected” messages.

The link to the website now goes to a landing page hosted by Wix, the free service used to construct websites.

It’s Lansing location, the first, closed in 2019.

Menna’s was in business for more than a decade, catering to a decidedly younger crowd with its late delivery hours and marketing materials referencing marijuana usage. The logo featured a man with long, curly hair and sunglasses.

The Dub, its signature sandwich, was a wrap that

came in several different options, from tropical themed to loaded with everything including potatoes.

Menna's joins a long list of restaurants that have closed in recent years, including Mt. Pleasant mainstays like Big Boy, Italian Oven and Pizza Hut. Its core customer base was Central Michigan University students, and its demise comes during continued declining enrollment at the university.
