Memorial service set for Breckenrid­ge woman killed in crash

A Breckenrid­ge woman killed in a traffic crash last week is being remembered for her love of music, drawing, tattoos and piercings.

A memorial service for Maria Rosa Delgado, 20, will take place at 1 p.m Friday at Smith Family Funeral Home in St. Louis.

Visitation is scheduled beginning at 11 a.m. the same day until the time of service.

She was born in Alma on Sept. 1, 2001, the daughter of Juan and Sally Delgado, and graduated from St. Louis High School in 2019, where she played softball.

Delgado was working as a welder at Avalon Tahoe Manufactur­ing in Alma.

According to her obituary, she also loved being outdoors and spending time with her brother Juan and sister Alessandra, both of St. Louis.

Numerous condolence­s have been left on the funeral home’s website in remembranc­e of Delgato, along with thoughts and prayers for the family.

“So sorry for your loss. I remember babysittin­g your beautiful baby girl. Working at the school I watched her grow into a beautiful young woman. My heart breaks for your family. Praying for you all,” one person wrote.

Delgado died in a traffic crash that occurred about 5:52 am last Friday on M-46 near Blair Road when her vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a pickup, according to a report from the Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office.

The other driver, a 42-year-old man from Riverdale, was taken to Mymichigan Medical Center Gratiot in Alma where he was treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigat­ion by authoritie­s.

Delgado is survived by her parents, brother, sister and grandparen­ts, Barbara and Jake Havens of Alma, and Soledad Rodriguez of Mexico.
