Sleepy Dog Books to kick-off grand opening with block party
Sleepy Dog Books will soon kick-off their grand opening with a block party.
This bookstore, located at 120 E. Broadway Street, is owned by Jennifer and Riley Justis, who have both wanted to open bookstore for awhile after seeing a need for it in Mt. Pleasant.
Before their opening, the store has also been fulfilling online orders through their website.
Sleepy Dog Books will feature a variety of books, bookmarks, cards, socks, stuffed animals and candles among other items. Many of their products come from other Michigan based business.
The bookstore will also feature visits from local authors and artists, writing and reading workshops, book clubs, and poetry nights among other events.
The grand opening and block party event is expected to occur on May 6 from 5 to 8 p.m.
“During the event there will be live music, arts and crafts from Art Reach and For Arts Sake, photo booth, prizes and giveaways from Sleepy Dog Books, food vendor provided by Coldwell Banker ( with all proceeds going to St. Jude’s) and multiple local businesses remaining open during the event,” Riley Justis said.
During this event, a portion of Broadway Street will be closed off.
