Man charged with assault after threatening two people with BB gun
Police say they have on video a Gladwin man pulling a gun on two different people in the same intersection on Friday afternoon just north of Central Michigan University’s campus.
Marc Douglas Sheltraw, 38, was charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony, Monday.
Mt. Pleasant police arrested Sheltraw shortly at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Main Street near Gaylord. He was carrying a bottle of whiskey in his hand and a black BB gun in his waistband.
Two people said that Sheltraw pointed the gun at them at the intersection of Washington and Bellows streets.
One witness, a woman, said she watched him crossing the road when he started shouting at someone in a car. He then pulled up his shirt. The woman told police that she “didn’t want to die on Washington Street today.”
Both the person in the car and the other witness said they thought the gun was real and feared for their safety.
Sheltrow was arrested and booked. He had a preliminary blood alcohol content of .098,
He has a hearing on May 26 to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to send him to trial.
