Clare man killed in head-on crash

Hit pickup pulling livestock

An 84-year-old Clare man driving in the wrong lane was killed Monday when he collided headon with a truck pulling livestock.

Clare deputies responded to the report of a head-on crash in the area of Clare Avenue and Lincoln Road, between Clare and Harrison, at about 11:30 a.m.

“Deputies found that a red colored Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by an 84-year-old Clare man, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane on Clare Avenue near Lincoln when it collided head on with a silver colored Ford truck pulling a trailer with livestock, driven by a 45-yearold Sterling man, traveling southbound,” sheriff’s officials said.

The driver of the red Ford Ranger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the silver Ford pickup was treated for injuries and released at the scene.

The crash remains under investigat­ion.
