Paraglider crash kills St. Louis man, 73

A paraglider crash in Gratiot County results in the death of 73-year-old man from St. Louis.

The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the site of the crash on Friday, May 13 at 6:40 p.m. The crash occurred on M-46 near Begole Road in Pine River Township.

Witnesses in the area reported that the paraglider had been flying in the area for awhile and then appeared to develop a mechanical problem prior to the paraglider crashing onto the east and westbound lanes of M-46.

The paraglider was operated by Dr. Stephen Goodell D.D.S., who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The remains under investigat­ion though alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
