Resident honored for nursing excellence

Iheduru-anderson wins Nightingal­e Awards at Oakland University

Mt. Pleasant resident, Kechinyere Iheduru-anderson was honored at Oakland University’s 34th annual Nightingal­e Awards for Nursing Excellence.

Iheduru-anderson won the Nightingal­e Award in the Excellence in Research category. She is an associate professor at Central Michigan University’s College of Health Profession­s.

The event took place on May 11 in the Oakland Center Founders Ballrooms, on Oakland’s main campus in Rochester Hills, Mich.

Each of the Nightingal­e Award winners received a check for $1,000, a solid bronze statue of Florence Nightingal­e and a Nightingal­e ceremonial pin.

Honorees were nominated by their peers, supervisor­s, and patients in recognitio­n of their superior nursing expertise.
