Temps return to ‘near normal’ levels

-

This week starts off much cooler with partly sunny skies and highs in the low-70s. Skies will become mostly clear and quite cool tonight with lows in the upper-40s.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny for most of the day, with increasing clouds late awith highs in the low-80s. Tuesday night, some much needed rain showers are possible with lows in the upper-50s.

Wednesday will start off with some morning clouds but then become mostly sunny and highs in the low-80s. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with lows in the mid-50s.

Thursday is the hot day this week with highs near 90. A cold front will bring a chance for a few thunderstorms on Friday, which will cool temperatures back to normal in the lower to middle-80s for the holiday weekend.

It looks to be a dry and overall mostly sunny weekend for the Fourth of July as well. Beyond that, heading into next week, the region will trend in the 80s and include at least a chance for some thunderstorms, given the upper-level wind pattern by that time.

June ends, July begins with ‘near normal’ temps

The term “near-normal” may seem misleading, but a 10-day forecast, paired with precedent data, may shed some context.

The normal high is 83 this time of year and most days, as mentioned in the forecast above, will see highs in the low to mid-80s with only two exceptions: Today, with a high near 70, and Thursday, with a high near 90. When we average things together, this is close to typical summer weather for this time of year.

What is not normal is the rainfall; the region has been drier than normal. The thunderstorms chances in the forecast over the next 10 days currently look to be hit-or-miss and if we miss too many times, it’s likely the region will continue to be on the drier side.
