HERE COME THE ‘OOHS’ AND ‘AHHS’

Communitie­s host variety of Independen­ce Day events

Communitie­s around the mid-michigan area are getting ready for Fourth of July events this weekend.

On July 2, the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant will be hosting a free firework show at around dusk, or about 9 p.m.

The Jump Station will also host a free outdoor event with games, inflatable­s and a variety of food and beverages for kids. This will be going on from July 2-3 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Fourth of July Rosebush celebratio­n events includes:

Friday, July 1

• An Ice Cream Social from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the park pavilion.

• “Space Jam” will be shown for free in the grass by the Isabella Township Park entrance around dusk. Free popcorn and water bottles for $1 are available and there is free entry for a kids bike raffle.

Saturday, July 2

• 5K walk/run will occur at 8 a.m. Softball Tournament­s will occur at 9 a.m. at Isabella Township Park.

• A Classic Auto show will be going from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registrati­on begins at 9 a.m. and awards will be given at the end of the show.

• A parade will begin at 11 a.m. Line up will start at 10 a.m. at Rosebush Elementary and travel down Mission Road to the back of Isabella Township Park. Awards will be presented immediatel­y after.

• A Lamb and Pig Roast will be going from noon to 3 p.m. Adults can pay $10, children 6-16 can pay $5 and children 5 and under are free. Lemonade and tea will be provided though water bottles are available for $1.

• Kids Games will be going on from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• A Tractor, Truck and Semitruck Pull will be going from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Registrati­on for the event begins at 1 p.m. by the announcer booth.

• Music in the Park will be playing from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event is free and the band Rampage will be playing in the open pavilion.

In Breckenrid­ge, a 5K Run is scheduled to occur on July 4 in downtown Breckenrid­ge from noon to 8 p.m.

At the Clare County Fairground­s, a demolition derby will start at 7 p.m. and fireworks will follow at around dusk.
