RUTHRUFF, CAROL ANN

Carol Ann (Fischer) Ruthruff, age 85, of Weidman, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Falcon Lake Nursing Home in Zapata, Texas with her husband by her side. Cremation has taken place. Carol was born on July 16, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Frank and Annabelle (Howay) Fischer. She graduated in the Class of 1955 from Mt. Pleasant High School. She proudly wore her class ring throughout her lifetime. Carol retired from Mclaren Central Michigan Hospital, Human Resources Department, after 25 years of service. She married Jim Ruthruff in 1968, in Mt. Pleasant. Her favorite activities were traveling south to Texas for the winter, working in her flower gardens, visiting with friends/family, morning coffee gatherings with her husband and friends, Thursday night pizza, and loved watching NFL football between naps. She is survived by her husband Jim; children Steven Gill (Andrea) of Shepherd; Debra Wright of Midland; Greg Gill (Wenche) of Katy, Texas ; Carla Gill ( Mike Scherba ) of Lake Isabella. Grandchildren Patty Long (Paul) of Fennville; Sherry Hitchingham (Patrick) of St. Louis; Dr. Chris Gill (Laura) of Midland; Elizabeth Moore (Daniel) of St. Ignace; Marina Gill of Katy, Texas; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson. Carol is also survived by her brother Ralph Fischer of Mt. Pleasant; her sister, and best friend Annatta Marshall of Midland; her sister-in-law Suzanne Fischer of Caledonia, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, her brother George Fischer, and her sister Pauline Fischer. Her husband, Jim, was always there for her, as she was for him. Her son, Greg, was able to provide unwavering support, and presence, in her final hospital stay in Texas. We would like to give a very special thank you to the staff at the Falcon Lake Nursing Home, in Zapata, Texas for their compassionate care. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will surely be missed by her family and friends. A Memorial service will be held sometime late spring, a date to be announced at a later time.
