Mt. Pleasant residents are being asked to take a survey to help shape the future of the city’s recreational programs.

Surveys that take less than 15 minutes to complete have been mailed to residents, who have until Jan. 19 to fill out.

The survey is part of an effort to get community input, and will be part of a check-in on the city’s parks and recreation plan, which guides about five years of programs, events and projects.

Mt. Pleasant Parks and Recreation Director Phil Biscorner wants community members to voice their opinions and preferences.

“This input is valuable in shaping decisions

that directly impact the community such as recreational programs and events,” Biscorner said. “The data collected assists city officials and planners to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation as well as program/event development and implementation.”

Biscorner said the city’s recreational facilities and programs are long-term investments, and survey data helps city officials develop a strategic and sustainable plan for the future while taking into account the changing needs and demographics of the community.

“Regular assessments through these surveys enable the city to adapt to changing community needs over time, ensuring that our recreational facilities

and programs stay relevant and effective.”

The survey, available online at https:// bit.ly/mpprneeds, asks residents questions including how well their needs are being met by existing indoor and outdoor recreation activities, and what their priorities are for future programs and events.

While Biscorner realizes the survey takes about 12 to 15 minutes to complete, he said the time it takes to fill out will help the city take a resident-driven approach to making decisions that will enhance future recreational program and event offerings, which in turn positively affect the quality of life for Mt. Pleasant residents.
