Yvonne Alva Trevor Muneio, age 94, of St. Louis, Michigan, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023. She was born on October 4, 1929, to Bertha Cristensia (Eineichner) and Earl Atley Trevor. She was the eldest of five children: Yvonne, Gary, Jay, Maryann, and Jim. They lived in East Detroit, Michigan. Her father worked in an auto factory. She was appointed to the Student Council and in her senior year, she served as class treasurer and she was voted Most Popular Girl in her class. Post high school she worked in the cost accounting department of the Greyhound Bus Company.

She married John Michael Muneio on January 27, 1951, in St. Veronica Catholic Church in East Detroit. She was the older brother to two of her best friends, Joan and Delores Muneio. The married couple lived in a two-bedroom house on Revere Street in St. Clair Shores. Their first three children, Patrice, Susan, and Diane also lived there. Their other two children, Robert “Bob” and Claudia; came home from the hospital to their home in Fraser, a Detroit suburb.

In 1965, the couple moved their family to Alpena where John managed the A&P store. Then they moved to St. Ignace before buying their grocery store in Escanaba. When they retired, they moved to St. Louis, MI, to be closer to family.

She made receiving a college education a top priority for all of her children. She also put an emphasis on “Always do your best, and that’s all I ask.”

She is survived by her daughters: Patrice (Paul) Hornak of Ithaca, MI; Susan (Tom) Massaway of St. Louis, MI; Diane (Randy) Crites of Alma, MI; and Claudia (Steve) Weekly of Swartz Creek, MI; one son Bob (Kathleen) Muneio of Charlevoix, MI. She is also survived by her eleven grandchild­ren: Kalynn (Jason) Everitt, Andrea (Nick) Cheyne, Brian (Angie) Massaway, Suzanne (Luke) Allen, Jenny (Cody) Curtis, Shannon (Justin) Gibson, Annmarie Hornak, Jason (Colleen) Crites, Sarah Weekly, Emily (Brad) Feger, and Mike Muneio; and twenty-two great-grandchild­ren.

Yvonne was a devout Catholic, a member of various book clubs and bridge groups, as well as a member of square dance groups, and the League of Women Voters. She stressed that life should be filled with God, love, family, laughter, hard work, friendship­s, and education.

Yvonne’s Mass and celebratio­n of life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, Michigan, at 11:00 A.M. A luncheon for friends and family will be held in the church hall following the service.
