Roger D. Ryder, Sr. age 92, of Alma passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab Center in St. Louis surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 10, 1931, in Alma, the son of Arley and Minnie (Meyer) Ryder, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the Alma VFW. Roger worked for over 20 years as a Lab Technician at Lobdell-emery. He was a member of Goldwing Road Riders Associatio­n in Florida where he rode his beloved motorcycle until he was forced to retire his bike. In his younger years he was often found racing his car, “Flying 5.” He was an avid NASCAR fan. Roger is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Larry) Shepard, Sharlene (Mike) Gallahan, Mari Anne Ryder; 13 grandchild­ren; 26 great-grandchild­ren; four great-great-grandchild­ren; and a sister, Fran Mills. Also, special friends, David and Connie Evans, Gary and Joyce Cressman. He was preceded in death by a son, Roger D. “Skip” Ryder, Jr., a daughter, Cheryl (Tim) Pretzer; a granddaugh­ter, Tonia Smith; his parents and two brothers, Larry and Arley Ryder, Jr. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciati­on to the staff at Schnepp Senior Care and Trident Hospice for the loving care they provided Roger. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 12 pm at Lux -Moody-wolfel Funeral Home, Alma with Pastor Phil Maxwell officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Alma. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Alma VFW.
