A Tribute to Life.

- MARICLE, DR. R. SCOTT

Dr. R. Scott Maricle, age 86, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on December 5, 1937, in Boone County, Nebraska. He was the loving son of Raymond F. and Lois D. Scott Maricle, both of whom preceded him in death. After high school, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English and History at Wayne State College. He earned both his Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Education from the University of Nebraska. His first marriage to Carolyn Donaldson on June 2, 1957, was blessed with four children: Charles R., Cynthia E., Randal Scott, and Amy Michelle Maricle. He taught English in Seward, Nebraska and Akron, Colorado before moving to Hanover, Indiana. He was Chair of the Education Department at Hanover College for twenty-five years. On August 19, 1983, he was united in marriage to Lynn Ann Welch Phillippe in Hanover, Indiana, where he gained another daughter, Mary Elizabeth “Megan”. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Madison, and enjoyed reading and woodworkin­g. Scott died on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 3:30 a.m. at his home in Hanover, Indiana. Scott will be missed by his wife of 40 years, Lynn Ann Welch Phillippe Maricle of Hanover, IN; his children Charles R. “Chuck” Maricle and his wife Kim of Covington, KY, Cynthia E. Maricle of Greenwood, IN, Randal S. Maricle and his wife Jennifer of Columbus, IN, Amy M. Huff and her husband Joshua of Alexandria, KY, Mary Elizabeth “Megan” Phillippe and her husband Michael W. Hastings of Indianapol­is, IN; his grandchild­ren, Zachary, Jacob (Michaela), and Lucas (Mary), Nicholas and Ashley, Miles, Dr. Molly Maricle, Annelise, Chase; and Eliza; several nieces and nephews including: Don Stewart, Sue Hamilton (James), Keith Maricle (Mary Ann), Nancy Thorson (Alan), Howard Maricle (Cindy), Alice Maricle (Donal; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond F. Maricle; his mother, Lois D. Scott Maricle; his brother, Gordon Neal Maricle, his sisters and brother-in-law: Sarah Elizabeth Maricle (age 5); and Virginia M. Stewart and her husband Floyd F. Stewart; and his niece Peggy Wade and her husband, Rick.

MEMORIAL SERVICES

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., by Great Nephew Austin Casper and Pastor Lynde Linde at the Albion United Methodist Church, 605 West Marengo Street in Albion, Nebraska. Interment will follow at the Boone County Cemetery in Albion, Nebraska. VISITATION

Friends may gather from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Albion United Methodist Church, 605 West Marengo Street in Albion, Nebraska.
