The Mock 1
We’re always up for a good father/son build project story, and Jimmey Wilson of Port St. Lucie, Florida, certainly has one in his ’70 Mustang Grande. The Mustang started life as a 302/automatic combo when Jimmey and his dad found it on eBay back in 2005. “It didn’t look horrible in the pictures. As usual though, things always look better in the sales ad. Fast-forward about 10 years and some help from some friends, you get what you see here,” Jimmey explains. The finished project was dubbed the Mock 1 by Jimmey’s dad and now features a 396ci Windsor V-8 packing Scat internals, topped with AFR 205 heads. MSD fires the engine, which is backed by a Tremec TKO trans. The color is Le Mans Sunset Metallic, and Jimmey bolted up a set of Coys C-67s at all four corners. The Mock 1 makes 400 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, which makes for a fun ride when Jimmey takes his wife, Courtney, and kids Erika and Cannon to car shows and cruise-ins. Jimmey tells us future plans are for a fuel injection conversion and some drag radials out back!
