AFTER years of living on the edge, Matthew Perry has been warned to leave Hollywood — or die!
The former “Friends” star has battled addictions to booze and drugs for years — and nearly kicked the bucket in August! “Matt revealed that he was at death’s door!” an insider snitched. “He was battling infections and felt like he was close to slipping away.
“Now, he’s been told to devote all his energy to regaining his health and building up his strength — or else!”
As The National ENQUIRER has reported, the 49-year-old actor’s stomach and part of his digestive tract exploded, creating a hole that required emergency surgery to close. Matt also endured another procedure to create an opening in his throat enabling him to breathe.
Serious complications prompted his transfer to a second hospital, where Matt — who did his first rehab stint in 1997 — was left fighting for his life in intensive care!
Although he’s battled back from the brink, Matt’s body has been weakened by his past addictions to booze and pills, according to insiders.
In 2000, he was hospitalized with pancreatitis, an inflammation that resulted from his alcohol and drug abuse, and later checked into rehab.
An insider added: “Matt’s still got his demons, but he won’t let them rule his life again. He knows he’s lucky to be alive — and he’s vowed to do whatever it takes to stay healthy.”
