STARS SHINE IN WAR
PITCHING IN TO FEED HOMELESS & SPEED RECOVERY N E
AS THE most destructive wildfires in California’s history rampaged through the state, bighearted celebrities stepped up with inspiring acts of kindness and generosity.
After being evacuated and losing their $2.25 million Malibu mansion, Miley Cyrus and fiancé Liam Hemsworth donated $500,000 to the Malibu Foundation to help “emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience.” Liam and his eldest brother, “Westworld” star Luke, later donned gas masks to deliver supplies to rescue workers battling the blaze.
Lady Gaga delivered stacks of pizzas, fresh coffee and gift cards to an evacuation center. “I’m on my way now to a shelter in California to be with people who have evacuated their homes. It’s one of my acts of kindness for today and I encourage you to do the same,” the “A Star Is Born” diva wrote on social media. On Nov. 11, Gaga — forced to evacuate her home by the voracious Woolsey Canyon inferno — stopped by a
Red Cross evacuation center in Pacific Palisades and sat with displaced residents, offering prayers and compassion.
“This is an emergency, but you are not alone,” she told the evacuees.
SDown the road in Malibu, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl delivered dinner to firefighters and their families. “He fed hundreds of exhausted and starving firefighters and helped them keep hydrated,” said a source on the scene.
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres donated $100,000 to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. “I just wanted to send my love to everyone in the community,” Ellen said on her show. “My family lives there. It’s horrible, and so to the friends and family of those people, we all send love.” Celebrity chef Guy Fieri dropped by a staging area in Butte County to serve meals and offer moral support to first responders.
America’s sweetheart
Sandra Bullock also donated $100,000 to the Humane Society of Ventura County. “This donation will help the HSVC provide 24/7 care for the scores of horses, bulls, donkeys, pigs, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and other pets evacuated from the fires,” said a spokesman for the organization. Even the self-obsessed Kardashians got in on the giving.
Calabasas resident Khloé hit a CVS to buy bottled water and other supplies for first responders.
“Here at CVS, I basically got everything they had in stock,” she posted online.
“I know the brave men and women are working so hard, tirelessly, for all of us would greatly appreciate it. Just do whatever you can, even if it’s one bottle of water, one container of eye drops, one granola bar, anything, I know they would appreciate it.”
THE hellish wildfires that ravaged Southern California did not spare Hollywood’s elite. Here are the heartbreaking stories of stars who suffered massive losses.
