LOST PET FOUND THANKS TO FLASHY VEST
BIRDS of a feather were brought back together! After a bedazzled pet pigeon flew the coop, it was reunited with its adoptive mother — who seems to have lost her marbles!
Olive — whose owner, Marlette Fernando, dresses her in a rhinestonestudded vest — flew away from her Phoenix home on Nov. 7.
Though Marlette was devastated her jewelry-festooned flygirlbroke free, Olive was seen making a bold statement about ten miles awayin a backyard in Glendale! The blinged-out wingwoman was brought to the Fallen Feathers Bird Rescue after she was found trying to get through someone’s sliding glass door —flashing the gaudy vest as her entrypass!
“When I opened the box and saw it Ilet out a huge laugh,” said Fallen Feathers owner Jody Kieran. “I’ve never seen anything like this, and I’ve been doing this for 20 years.”
Given Olive’s unique ability to accessorize,Jody figured it wouldn’t be difficult to reunite her with her owner. A Facebookpost featuring the gemmed pigeon drew an onslaught of attention, eventually leading her to Marlette.
The happy ending also brought an answer to the mysterybehind Olive’s Kardashian-esque accessory. It “serves as a diaper,” Marlette said. Despite the unsatisfactory explanation, the mother and bird reunion is a priceless tale.
“It’s such a beautiful story, especially at this time ofyear,” Marlette mused. “We’re all so tired of sad stories and depressing news.We needed a happy ending.”
And that’s how ornately adorned Olive found herself perched atop this week’s Odd List!
