SUPERSTARS Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri is a prime million-dollar target for cruel kidnappers, law enforcement experts warned, after the vulnerable teen was spotted wandering New York City’s dangerous streets — seemingly alone and unprotected!
Private eye Paul Huebl, a former Chicago cop, told
The National ENQUIRER the 13-year-old’s routine of traveling the Big Apple in high fashion outfits — twinned with her parents’ celebrity status — is “an invitation for a criminal” to commit a violent robbery or snatch her off the sidewalk.
“If I were Tom or Katie, I would make SURE my daughter had armed, fully vetted security people following her every time she stepped out of the house,” Huebl said after the girl was photographed toting a $4,000 Chanel bag in Manhattan on July 29 — without her mother, a security guard or a babysitter in sight! “Kidnapping is the worst nightmare imaginable for any parent,” former New York cop and criminal defense attorney Peter Gleason told The ENQUIRER. “Tom and Katie have reason to be terrified it could happen to Suri!
“It’s a sick commentary on society — but there are monsters out there who put price tags on kids BECAUSE their parents are celebrities, and Cruise and his ex-wife are among the biggest!”
Gleason believes Suri could fetch a ransom of $1 million or more if she were kidnapped! And he warned an abduction is a very real and terrifying possibility.
Suri’s mother and father got a horrifying taste of the heartbreak and danger a kidnapping could bring when the girl briefly “went missing” during a 2013 Manhattan shopping spree. It turned out Suri, then six, had just bolted down an aisle — out of her mom’s sight — and disappeared into a crowd. She and Katie were quickly reunited.
But the false alarm prompted Tom and Katie — who’d just split up — to work together to save their daughter from danger, sources said. Tom consulted risk management analysts and devised a plan to ensure
Suri’s security by building a “panic room” in Katie’s Manhattan apartment.
At the time, famed
and security expert Bo Dietl told The ENQUIRER the panic room “could save her life” in the event of a break-in. But he said Suri would remain at risk in public without a security team around her. Huebl and Gleason agree the danger hasn’t dissipated since then.
“Suri needs to be educated about the dangers she will face on the streets,”
Huebl said.
He urged Tom and Katie to work with local law enforcement to create a new and complete security strategy — including using current or former officers for roundthe-clock protection.
“They need to be highly trained people who know how to give Suri enough room to live her life but remain close enough to spring to her rescue the instant a threat presents itself,” he said.
“You don’t want to surround her with big, hulking guards. I’d get women who can blend into the background and know how to use a gun if the situation calls for it.
“Guns save lives if they’re in the right hands!”
Huebl believes the annual cost for building such a team would run around $100,000 per agent — an expense he believes is essential for such a high-profile client.
He also urged Tom and Katie to make sure Suri’s phone is equipped with a tracking device and that a panic button be secured to her clothing or purse so that it won’t be a Mission: Impossible if something were to happen to her.
But Gleason recommends taking that strategy even further!
“New technology allows parents to implant a tracking chip INSIDE their children, in the same way that people do for their pets!” he said.
“It sounds crazy, but it makes sense. Any kidnapper can strip a child and remove a tracking device from their purse or clothing. This is smart and fail-safe!”
