LIZZO’S HUGE SECRET: DAD WAS A DEADBEAT – AND DID TIME!

-

LARGER-THAN-LIFE singer Lizzo worshipped her late father, but a National ENQUIRER investigation reveals he was a petty criminal and a deadbeat dad! The “Truth Hurts” hitmaker — whose real name is Melissa Jefferson — has credited her pop, Michael, with being her “power.”

But police reports exclusively obtained by The ENQUIRER show Michael Jefferson was jailed by cops in Wayne County, Mich., in 2004 for failing to pay child support! He was released within days. But three years later, he was arrested again and spent four months behind bars for forfeiting his bond.

However, when he passed away on March 17, 2009, Lizzo — who was then 21 — called it the “worst day of my life.” The “Juice” singer said she hit rock bottom and, as The ENQUIRER reported, was eventually reduced to living in her car! “I lost my superstar … and wanted to die. I quit singing. I quit trying,” Lizzo explained in an Instagram post on the tenth anniversary of Michael’s death. “My father passed away, I was homeless. I didn’t have any money, my band was doing badly and I was by myself,” she recalled of that difficult time.

“I hadn’t been eating because I didn’t have money, and I was honestly the smallest physically I’d ever been.

And still, that was the worst I’d ever felt about myself,” added the star, who’s since become a model for body-positivity.

But Lizzo, who did not respond to a request for comment, eventually found her way out of the darkness and summoned the strength to once again pursue her dream.

Now the 32-year-old, three-time Grammy Award winner is worth an estimated $10 million and is using her painful past as motivation!

“I needed that heartbreak experience,” she said. “I’m not sad because I use the pain so constructively. It’s inevitable. The pain is human experience.”
