COOPED-UP JESSICA STRUGGLING TO STAY SOBER!
JESSICA SIMPSON is “struggling” to stay sober while on lockdown, an insider said!
The mother of three recently opened up in her memoir,
“Open Book,” about how she boozed and popped pills to escape the shadows of childhood sexual abuse — and sources warned The National ENQUIRER she’s on the edge amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“She’s having a hard time in quarantine,” spilled an insider. “She’s struggling with her sobriety!”
According to the source, Jessica, 39, is taking things day by day.
“It’s been a struggle,” added the snitch. “Her friends don’t believe she’s turned to drinking again, but there’s been a lot of talk about it, so much so she’s needed extra therapy!” In her bombshell book, Jessica, who did not respond to a request for comment, detailed surviving sexual abuse at age six, which led to a downward spiral of substance abuse.
She also revealed how sudden fame eroded her marriage to 98 Degrees boyband member Nick Lachey, 46, and how her insecurities while dating musician John Mayer accelerated her substance abuse issues. “I was killing myself with all the drinking and pills,” she wrote.
Eventually she turned to therapy and got sober in November 2017 — and hasn’t had a drink since.
But things for her are less than picture perfect, despite the happy selfies she posts from home alongside the three children she shares with her 40-year-old husband, Eric Johnson. “Like so many others in quarantine, it’s been a dark period for her!” the source dished.
