HOLLYWOOD HACKERS FEELING HEAT!
STARS REFUSE TO PAY $42M BLACKMAIL AS FBI CLOSES IN
INTERNET hackers who stole a trove of celebrities’ information are getting desperate as the FBI closes in on their $42 million extortion scheme. As The National ENQUIRER reported last week, the group, known as REvil, claimed to have stolen a huge cache of files from law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, whose superstar clients include Robert De
Niro, Christina Aguilera,
Bruce Springsteen, Rod
Stewart, U2, Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Bette Midler and Jessica Simpson.
The law practice refused to pay the initial $21 million demand and said they were working with the FBI, so the hackers doubled their ransom. To show how serious they were, REvil released documents related to Lady Gaga — although they were little more than music industry contracts. Another promised information dump
never materialized. A cybersecurity source said: "Every day that passes, the FBI gets closer top discovering who is behind this hack. SO far it appears they've been bluffing!
“This is a highly dangerous, high-stakes game they’re playing. And the lawyers are sticking to their guns and refusing to pay up!”
The law firm confirmed the data breach, but said they were doing everything possible to protect their clients’ files by working with the authorities.
