NEW NATALIE FILM RIPS FAMILY APART!

SISTER BLASTS IT AS ATTEMPT TO CLEAR WAGNER IN STAR’S DEATH

-

SHOCKING charges that Robert Wagner killed wife Natalie Wood in a jealous rage have ripped the late screen siren’s family apart!

For years, suspicions swirled around Wagner’s alleged role in the “West Side Story” legend’s death. But “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind” — the HBO documentary coproduced by her daughter Natasha Gregson Wagner — attempts to clear the name of the “Hart to Hart” actor!

On Nov. 28, 1981, Natalie disappeared from the couple’s yacht, Splendour, which was anchored off the coast of California’s Catalina Island. Her waterlogged body was found the following day.

At the time, the incident was labeled an accident. But investigators reopened the case in November 2011 after the L.A. Coroner’s Office cited the presence of bruises and amended her cause of death to “drowning and other undetermined factors.”

The “It Takes a Thief” star, now 90, continues to deny any involvement in Natalie’s death. “I know that if my mom had been in any kind of distress, he would have given his life for her,” Natasha said in the documentary. But Natalie’s sister, Lana Wood, exclusively told The National ENQUIRER she remains convinced that Wagner is responsible for her sibling’s death.

What’s more, the former Bond girl, 74, charged Natasha hardly knew Natalie and fears the 49-year-old’s memories are tainted by the words of others.

“I just wish Natasha had more to remember because she lost her mother when she was only 11,” Lana said. Writer Marti Rulli — the co-author of “Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendour” — exclusively told The ENQUIRER Lana was asked to participate in the documentary but refused when she was presented with a nondisclosure agreement that would have banned her from ever discussing the case again.

Insiders said Wagner had harbored jealousy toward Christopher Walken — Natalie’s co-star in her final film, “Brainstorm” — who was a guest on Splendour the night she disappeared.

In the documentary, Wagner admitted he and Christopher had a furious argument after Natalie went to bed.

Wagner claimed when he later went to look for his wife, he saw both the dinghy and Natalie were gone! “Nobody heard anything,” Wagner insisted.

But Dennis Davern, the boat’s skipper, told The ENQUIRER he also believes Natalie’s husband was responsible for her death. Davern has also claimed Wagner has long tried to keep him silent.

“I lived with Wagner for close to a year after Natalie’s death, and he made sure I was watched day and night,” said the skipper.

Rulli called Natasha’s documentary “a carefully crafted platform” to proclaim Wagner’s innocence but added, “She can’t change the truth.”
