QUICK AND EASY TEST FOR LIVER CANCER!

-

A NEW blood test that’s simple and inexpensive may improve screening for the most common form of liver cancer, according to researchers. The test, which requires just a small blood sample, checks patients for previous exposure to certain viruses that may interact with the immune system and increase the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma or HCC. The experimental test “could play an important role in screening people who are at risk for developing HCC. It would help doctors find and treat HCC early,” said study leader Xin Wei Wang, co-leader of the National Cancer Institute Center for Cancer Research liver cancer program.
