TROU­BLED Play­boy

Play­mate Ash­ley Mat­tingly used a sin­gle gun­shot to end her short and tragic life. The 33-year-old blond bomb­shell fired a bul­let into her mouth on April 15, the Travis County, Texas, Med­i­cal Ex­am­iner re­vealed in an au­topsy re­port.

A tox­i­col­ogy re­port showed she had ben­zo­di­azepines and opi­oids in her sys­tem.

Ash­ley was found at her home af­ter a friend asked for a well­ness check. When police ar­rived they found her body along­side a note the coro­ner de­scribed as “de­pressed writ­ings sug­ges­tive of sui­cide.” Just two days ear­lier, Ash­ley posted a chill­ing In­sta­gram mes­sage for her fans, say­ing, “I took bad ad­vice and drank too much which I vom­ited a lot of blood. Please slow down on the drink­ing!”

She was just 24 when she earned the ti­tle of Play­boy’s Miss March in 2011, and al­most im­me­di­ately went into a down­ward spi­ral and a pro­longed bat­tle with al­co­hol. She was charged with DUI in 2016 af­ter al­legedly hit­ting four parked cars while steer­ing her golf cart in La­guna Beach, Calif. “We will for­ever cher­ish her mem­o­ries and know that her joy is eter­nally sealed,” said Ash­ley’s fam­ily in a state­ment.
