FADING pop icon Cher is living like a recluse behind the walls of her massive Malibu compound, claimed pals who are worried about the well-being of the solitary superstar.
“She’s always been a private person, but now she’s verging on agoraphobic,” spilled an insider.
Fears for the “If I Could
Turn Back Time” singer, 74, exploded when she tweeted she was “very sick” and too under the weather to attend protests over the death of Minnesota man George Floyd, who died on May 25 in police custody.
On June 6, she tweeted, “It’s killing me that I’m not out in the street protesting at this pivotal time in history … have been very sick.”
The songbird has battled the incurable and energy-sapping Epstein-Barr virus since the 1980s and is reportedly struggling to breathe and
fearing exposure to the coronavirus! “She rarely even leaves the house because she’s deathly afraid of catching the virus or another disease,” the source snitched. “The only place she used to feel comfortable was on a stage, but even that is out of the question now.”
Cher canceled four
Las Vegas concerts in February — well before the pandemic rocked the
U.S. — due to an upperrespiratory infection.
“I’m as sick as I can remember being in a long time,” Cher wrote to her fans on Twitter.
“Doctors have given me every cold, flu, virus med known to man.”
In 2014, the “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves” star was forced to cancel several shows on her Dressed to Kill tour — and even had to wear a heart monitor!
After a lot of bed rest and medicine, sources claimed Cher has recovered from her recent bout of illness.
But she’s still acting like an invalid and has told friends “she feels unwell, listless and tired a lot of the time,”
“She sleeps until noon and shuns the sun, even though her home is located on a prime stretch of oceanfront property,” the insider dished. “She keeps the curtains and blinds closed, lets the trees go untrimmed and shuts herself away for weeks and months at a time! mind!”
Sources said Cher, who did not respond to a request for comment, has told pals she’s been out of the limelight for so long she fears she’s lost her relevance in the modern world and spends her time dwelling on her glory days!
“She acts a bit like Norma
Desmond from ‘Sunset Boulevard!’ ” an insider dished. “She’ll prance around the house telling the help about her old romantic conquests and days as a box office blockbuster!
“It all seems a bit detached from reality. Everyone is urging her to get back out into the public eye and start living again!”
