Tries to protect kids from dirty divorce details as rumors swirl
KELLY CLARKSON has vowed to remain silent about the nightmare behind her divorce from Brandon Blackstock to protect her kids, according to sources!
Although the couple has agreed to share custody of daughter River Rose, 6, and son Remy, 4, an insider snitched Kelly was “happy to get Brandon out of the house!” “Kelly is known for oversharing, but she’s keeping her lips zipped about Brandon,” a pal spilled to The National ENQUIRER.
“She never wants her children to know how bad things really were with their dad!”
TV’s latest daytime darling, 38, cited irreconcilable differences when she filed for divorce from her 43-year-old manager hubby in June.
But insiders said she’s never gotten over cheating rumors that have swirled around Brandon since before they tied the knot in 2013.
“Whenever Kelly confronted him about cheating, Brandon denied it. But her feeling was that where there’s smoke, there’s fire!” dished a source. Worse yet, sources said Brandon seemed to have lost romantic interest in the powerhouse singer, often making snide comments about her weight!
“He’d say he didn’t care what Kelly weighed, but he threw in that he never saw a successful pop star that looked like her!” the source dished.
Brandon also got very comfortable living the high life on the former “American Idol” winner’s dime, according to sources.
“He already got a cut of Kelly’s earnings, but he had no problem spending her money on top of his own!” a source spilled. “Brandon was obsessed with buying multimilliondollar estates in Nashville, L.A. and Montana, which Kelly thought were far more than they needed!” And while Brandon would micromanage everything from her song and clothing choices to how Emmy winner Kelly should juggle her coaching gig on “The Voice” with hosting her daytime talk show, insiders said he refused to pull his weight as a husband and father.
As The ENQUIRER reported, matters came to a head early in the COVID-19 lockdown. “I literally looked at my husband ’cause it was a rough week of work and nonstop everything, and I said, ‘I don’t want to cook one damn meal. I don’t want to clean one article of clothing. I don’t want to do anything!’ ” Kelly said on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
Still a friend insisted Kelly is determined to stay on good terms with Brandon for the kids’ sake — including his daughter, Savannah, 18, and
13-year-old son, Seth, from his first marriage.
“Kelly wants River Rose and Remy to grow up with their half siblings. That’s one reason she won’t badmouth Brandon in front of any of them,” the insider snitched. “She wants her kids to love their dad — no matter how lousy she thinks he was as a husband.”
