LARRY KING’S KIN CLAW FOR HIS CASH
Widow sues stepson to bend him to her will
IN A shocking legal assault, Larry King’s widow has gone to war with her stepson in a bid to gain control of the TV icon’s estate!
Leggy blond Shawn King, 61, unleashed her attack dogs after claiming she was blindsided by a secret handwritten will that left Larry’s $2 million fortune to his five kids — and cut her off completely!
Her lawyers accused the CNN star’s son from his second marriage, Larry Jr. — who’s filed court papers to become the estate’s administrator — of exerting “undue influence” over his famous father!
Shawn also claimed Larry Jr., 59, has no business handling the legendary talking head’s dough!
“[Larry Jr.] has never been involved in Larry’s career or business, and it would be highly inappropriate to place him in a position of representing Larry’s estate,” according to the court document. The CNN star’s handwritten “holographic” last wishes — written in 2019 shortly after he slapped Shawn with divorce papers — left his cash to Larry Jr., and his two boys with Shawn, Chance, 21, and Cannon, 20.
His two other kids, Chaia, 51, and Andy, 67, were also named, but they died in 2020. According to the document, which only emerged in a court filing after his death, “It should replace all previous writings. In the evnt [sic] of my death, any day after the above date I want 100% of my funds to be divided eqally [sic] among my children.”
But the 100% appeared to have originally read 20% — and Shawn ripped the will to shreds!
“During the last few years of his life, Larry was highly susceptible to outside influences,” her legal papers stated, adding he “was of questionable mental capacity” when he “purportedly executed the holographic will.” At the time, Larry had “recently suffered a stroke,” and was “possibly already under the influence of preoperative medication,” the papers said. Shawn also claimed Larry had a will dated July 7, 2015, naming her as executor. “We had a very watertight family estate plan,” Shawn said. “It still exists, and it is the legitimate will. Period."
But Larry Jr.’s attorney Jeffrey Cohen insisted: “Larry’s [handwritten] will is a true record of his intent to benefit all his children equally” and insisted
Shawn’s claim is invalid. Despite that, attorney Armine Bazikyan said Shawn, who did not respond to our request for comment, has “legitimate claims to contest” the handwritten will “if Larry’s capacity is at question given his age and health.”
Larry passed at age 87 on Jan. 23 from an infection after battling COVID.
Official documents estimate his estate at $2 million, but sources said that number is much closer to $50 million! “I promise you Larry King had a lot more than $2 million,” insisted an insider.
