WHY SPEED FREAK TIGER CRASHED!

Woods tried to take 45-mph curve at shocking 87 mph

-

NEWLY released evidence Tiger Woods was barreling along at up to 87 mph in a 45-mph zone — and even accelerated — when he drove off a California cliff has fueled cries of a new cover-up!

What’s more, despite the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department detailing the golf great’s speeding, Tiger will not face any criminal charges, according to authorities, because his crippling crash was not witnessed by police! Lawmen ruled the crash’s primary cause was “driving at a speed unsafe for the road conditions and [Tiger’s] inability to negotiate the curve of the roadway.”

The 45-year-old links legend may have mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake before losing control of the Genesis SUV on Feb. 23, police said.

But on March 31, L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva triggered talk that Tiger when he declared he knew why Woods crashed — but wouldn’t say why, citing privacy concerns!

Villanueva denied claims of a cover-up, insisting the report remained confidential until Tiger’s legal team gave permission for it to be made public to comply with California law.

But retired NYPD detective Joseph Giacalone, now a professor at New York’s prestigious John Jay College of Criminal Justice, said: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a department ever ask for permission like that.”

As The National ENQUIRER previously reported, the sheriff has been slammed for the way the probe has been handled.

He didn’t ask to conduct drug tests on Tiger, who is a recovering addict, saying he “did not see any evidence of impairment.”

Almost immediately after the crash, he insisted it was

"purely an accident," and said no drug tests were necessary despite Tiger’s history, which included a trip to rehab in 2017 after he was charged with DUI in Florida.

What’s more, investigators did not request a search warrant for Woods’ blood samples, which could be screened for drugs and alcohol. Authorities said such a test was unnecessary because there was no odor of alcohol, no open containers in the vehicle and no narcotics or any evidence of medication in the SUV or on Tiger.

Based on evidence from the crash, some experts believe Tiger failed to pay attention to the road and drifted off it before his SUV crossed over a median, careened through two lanes on the opposite side of the highway before careening off the side of the road.

Still, accident reconstruction expert Jonathan Cherney has said the lack of skid marks on the highway indicated Tiger may have “fallen asleep at the wheel” and his admission he “did not remember” what happened was “absolutely” a clue he may have been impaired.

Woods cheated death when the vehicle rolled over and was hospitalized for three weeks with a shattered right leg and ankle. He’s now recuperating at his Florida estate.
