Pals fear she’s drinking in more than just success
FRAZZLED Kelly Clarkson has ramped up her boozing, sources said — and it’s set off alarm bells everywhere!
The 39-year-old chatterbox recently admitted she was guzzling wine while taping “The Voice” from home, declaring: “I don’t care if it is inappropriate!”
But between her ugly divorce battle, raising her two young children and crushing career pressures, pals fear her drinking could do her in! “Kelly’s chugging wine every day! She brushes off concerns about it, but friends think her booze habit has gotten way out of control,” spilled an insider. As The National ENQUIRER previously reported, Kelly keeps a steady supply of vino handy and is often seen with a glass of wine in hand.
What’s more, sources claimed the daytime darling doesn’t stop at a single glass! “Generally, Kelly gets through a bottle no problem, sometimes two by herself.
On a non-active day, she can demolish three or four, but it’s not doing her good,” snitched an insider. “Alcohol is a depressant and at this time in her life when she’s battling her ex over money it could spell disaster.”
As ENQUIRER readers know, the “American Idol” alum’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock, 44, is going down as one of the nastiest in Hollywood history. She has joint custody of their kids, River Rose, 6, and Remington, 5, but Brandon is demanding spousal and child support to the tune of $436,000 a month. His father Narvel’s Starstruck management group is also suing Kelly for more than
$1.4 million in commissions. The savvy songbird, who did not respond to a request for comment, has countersued, insisting they violated California’s labor code by
getting her gigs in L.A., without a talent agency license.
Putting even more work on the Grammy- and Emmywinning star’s plate, “The
Kelly Clarkson Show” is set to take over daytime dud Ellen DeGeneres’ highly coveted talk show slot in the fall of 2022. “Wine makes Kelly feel better, but she’s drinking more and more these days,” dished the insider. “Kelly tries to excuse it by pairing it with meat, vegetables and pasta and going for light and fruity wines, but it’s kind of miraculous she can plow through the day when her head must be fogged.
“She doesn’t seem to have much confidence except when she’s got a glass of wine in her hand. When she’s had a drink and blurts out things, people suspect that’s her hangover talking.
“With her personal problems, it could blow up in her face.”
