CNN IN CHAOS!

Cuomo brothers scandal cracks newsroom into warring camps

- CNN and Andrew Cuomo did not respond to requests for comment.

FEUDING CNN staffers are taking sides since Jake Tapper ripped into fellow anchor Chris Cuomo for his handling of sexual misconduct allegations against his brother, Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, sources spilled.

Chris, 50, owned up to advising his big-shot bro and his team after several women said the 63-year-old politician made unwanted advances toward them.

But critics have also accused Chris of being soft on his sibling during their on-air interviews and slammed CNN for allegedly giving the complaints against the governor less coverage than other news outlets!

Jake, 52, blasted Chris on a recent podcast and griped: “I cannot imagine a world in which anybody in journalism thinks that that was appropriate.

“Chris, in his apology that he delivered on-air … said that he put us in a bad spot. I would also agree with that.” Although Jake is the only other CNN bigwig to address the matter head-on, network sources said the kerfuffle is a sign of long-simmering issues finally boiling over!

A TV insider dished: “Behind the scenes everyone is livid. The perks of having the governor’s brother on staff are huge when things are going great — but when things are bad, it is awful.

“Chris is arrogant and the golden child at CNN. This makes everyone look bad.” “Cuomo Prime Time” host Chris did not face disciplinary action for advising Andrew — who has denied all allegations against him and refused to resign. But the newsroom is now said to be divided, with some saying Chris’ mea culpa was enough and others insisting the network’s editorial policy needs a dramatic overhaul!

Another source added:

“Two separate factions have emerged, and they’re virtually at war with each other. It’s becoming a very uncomfortable place to be. “Many feel CNN hasn’t been fair and balanced in this situation, and they cite nepotism as the underlying reason.”

In his on-screen apology, Chris said: “When my brother’s situation became turbulent, being looped into calls with other friends of his and advisers that did include some of his staff — I understand why that was a problem for CNN.

“It was a mistake because I put my colleagues here in a bad spot. It will not happen again.” But some sources argued Chris, who reportedly makes up to $6 million a year at the network, should have known better and refrained from getting mired in his brother’s mess!
