BLOODTHIRSTY BEAVER RIPS SWIMMER TO PIECES!

Hospitalized after terrifying ambush

ABERSERK beaver ripped Mark Pieraccini to shreds as he was swimming in a remote Massachusetts pond — and the 73-year-old outdoorsman was lucky to survive the attack by the 40-pound monster!

Pieraccini told The National ENQUIRER he had to fight “like hell” to best the beast, which he believes was rabid. While swimming near Greenfield, Mass., Pieraccini suddenly felt like he was “being attacked by a shark” about 40 yards from shore.

He felt the first vicious bite on his lower leg — and knew right away it was no nibble from a fish!

The nature lover said when he turned toward his attacker, “I was face-to-face with a snarling, 40-pound beaver who had no intention of letting me get away! It bit me on my left elbow and then grabbed my head with his paws and tried to bite me there!

“That’s when my instincts kicked in and I punched him right in the face!”

While the furry menace was briefly stunned, Mark said he “started swimming like hell” — but the savage critter “resurfaced about ten feet in front of me” and launched another fierce attack!

Mark said he once again slugged the buck-toothed beast, but “he grabbed my left hand and fractured two of my fingers with his jaw and lacerated a tendon so badly, I realized I couldn’t fight him any longer.

“So I had to swim for my life — but as I swam, he bit me about five more times!” Exhausted and severely injured, Mark finally made it to land and passed out. Fortunately, the beaver did not pursue him. When Mark came to, he rode his bike to his car, wrapped his wounds in towels and drove himself to a nearby hospital.

“I got hundreds of stitches, a fractured right thumb, several fractured fingers and lacerated tendons — and because the beaver was undoubtedly rabid, I had extensive treatment for that as well,” Mark explained.

“It’s almost unheard of for a beaver to hunt and attack humans, so I consider myself lucky to have cheated death.”
