At 77, he’s freaked by ladies who launch themselves at him

-

SENIOR heartthrob Sam Elliott is still attracting the ladies at age 77, and it’s freaking him out, spies dished!

“There’s no denying Sam’s still a hunk, and his deep gravelly voice makes women of all ages swoon,” spilled an insider. “Women go up to him all the time wanting to chat and take selfies, but he’s a shy guy and this fawning behavior makes him uncomfortable.”

The silver-haired actor has picked up a whole new herd of female admirers now as he stars in the “Yellowstone” prequel “1883.” But sources revealed Elliott insists “it’s a little late” to be a sex symbol. One reason Elliott is such a reluctant ladies’ man is he’s unwaveringly devoted to his wife of nearly four decades, Katharine Ross, 82, insiders said. They met on the set of “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” and she lassoed Sam for herself after they starred in the 1978 horror flick “The Legacy.”

“All of this attention from women is unnerving for

Sam, especially since he’s so devoted to Katharine,” said the insider. “He’s been faithful to her, though he’s had plenty of opportunity.”

The couple’s 37-year marriage is one of the most enduring in Hollywood.

Even though it’s Katharine’s fifth union, it’s the one that stuck. Elliott has said it helps that they share the same profession and work together, including doing 2017’s “The Hero.”

“I think we just like making movies, and having that creative experience together is the best,” Elliott explained. “It’s a whole different kind of energy to go home with someone you’re working with rather than go home to somebody who isn’t working.” Added the insider, “Katharine’s gotten used to Sam being attractive to the opposite sex, but he hasn’t. And the new wave of admirers has got Sam wanting to run to the hills.”
