IT’S NO GAME!
Bitter rivals Pat & Drew draw blood!
GAME show rivals Drew Carey and Pat Sajak are locked in an increasingly bitter battle of egos that’s threatening to turn into an all-out war, sources tell The National ENQUIRER. Carey, the glib 63-yearold “Price Is Right” host, is far more popular than his gaffe-prone “Wheel of Fortune” counterpart Sajak, 75, and never lets him forget it, dish the sources.
“They host some of the most-watched game shows on TV, but in the popularity stakes, Drew’s hot and Pat’s not,” reveals an insider. “They’re too competitive with each other to be friends, and the times they have been in the same room together have been awkward as hell.” Carey broke into showbiz as a standup comedian and still has a winning sense of humor while Sajak has a habit of blurting out baffling quips. “Drew tends to get a chuckle out of the way
Pat shoots himself in the foot by ranting about things on social media and rubbing people the wrong way,” explains the insider. “Drew, on the other hand, has a great reputation as a standup guy who treats everyone on his show with respect.
“Drew opens doors for the lowliest production assistant while Pat, sadly, does no one any favors on his soundstage.”
And while Carey has been helming “Price” for nearly 15 years, he still seems a fresh face compared to Sajak, who just entered his fifth decade on “Wheel.”
In fact, as The ENQUIRER previously reported, sources say Sajak threw a fit after his bosses failed to commemorate his 40th anniversary hosting the puzzle-solving show. Meanwhile, insiders dish
CBS bigwigs always make a big deal out of Carey’s anniversaries, which gets under Sajak’s skin even more.
Sajak sparked fears he may be losing his grip when he accidentally gave away the answer to a puzzle. And last year he seemed like a grumpy old man when he snapped at one contestant for “interrupting” him while he read a promo and chewed out another for “making sound effects” when all he was doing was whooping over a win. Other blunders included calling a player “ungrateful” and making fun of a contestant’s lisp. The one thing Sajak can crow about is earning
$15 million a season to Carey’s $12 million.
“Drew may not make as much as Pat, but ‘The Price Is Right’ is the ratings winner,” notes the source. “Pat just can’t compete with the guy!”
