NO MARVEL FOR MICKEY
HOTHEADED Mickey Rourke is making a big-screen comeback — but don’t expect to see him in any bigbudget action flicks! “They’re making all these Marvel movies that make me sick to my stomach,” declares the 69-year-old actor. “I don’t want to make movies where it’s one guy and a machine gun killing 200 other people just because it sells. That’s for somebody else. It’s not for me.”
Rourke claims he’s been blacklisted in Hollywood
but is now appearing as a paralyzed man in the faith-based film “Man of God,” about the Greek Orthodox Saint Nektarios of Aegina.
The project is a good fit for a guy who says his Catholic faith has played a vital role in his life, helping him cope with the death of his beloved brother as well as tempering his own violent compulsions. “One thing
I’ve learned,” he says, “is that everything’s in God’s hands.”
