MEN WHO NIX CARBS LEAVE LOVE LIFE LIMP
GUYS who skip carbs and opt for high-protein diets in a bid to build muscle or lose weight may be putting their sex lives at risk, experts warn.
After analyzing 27 studies involving over 300 men, scientists at England’s University of Worcester found overconsumption of protein decreased testosterone levels by more than a third, leading to erectile dysfunction and low sperm counts!
“Most people eat about 17 percent protein, so for the average person, there is nothing to worry about,” says lead researcher Joseph Whittaker.
“But the diets that caused low testosterone were all above 35 percent, which is very high.” In addition to causing sexual performance problems and reducing a guy’s chances of fathering kids, low testosterone levels are linked to chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes. “People on highprotein diets should 25 percent,” advises Whittaker.
He adds keeping testosterone levels healthy is important for strength, musclebuilding and athletic performance.
