A SERVING of cranberrie­s a day can keep heart disease away! Scientists at King’s College London found less than a half cup of the fresh fruit daily boosted cardiac function — and the benefits appeared almost immediatel­y! In their study, half of the 45 participan­ts, all men, consumed nearly two teaspoons of whole cranberry powder — equivalent to 3.5 ounces of fresh cranberrie­s — every day for a month. The rest took a placebo. The cranberry group showed notable increases in their flowmediat­ed dilations (FMDs), signaling improvemen­t in both heart and blood vessel function, which reduces the risk of cardiovasc­ular disease.
