Say Disney honcho wasn't 'woke' enough
HOTSHOT exec Peter Rice was shockingly sacked from Disney’s empire, and insiders whisper the popular Hollywood power player was a victim of the Mickey Mouse company’s profit-driven woke political agenda!
Rice, who’d served as entertainment and programming chairman, was unceremoniously ousted on June 9 when CEO Bob Chapek, 61, handed him his walking papers — and sources say the abrupt move rattled the rank and file!
“It’s not good for the company,” dishes a Disney spy. “Morale is terrible.”
Rice, 56, had shepherded blockbuster movie and television projects for more than two decades at the more conservative 21st Century Fox, which was purchased by Disney in 2019.
But a source snitches Chapek, who’s been flagged as a champion for the company’s increasingly liberal lean, saw Rice as a bad fit at the “new” Disney.
“Peter came from a place that was built on broad, offcolor comedies and reality shows, like The Simpsons, Married with Children and Temptation Island,” the source spills. “Which is the exact opposite of the kind of content Disney is focused on for the future.”
As The National ENQUIRER previously reported, the multibillion-dollar corporation has publicly blasted the
Florida Parental Rights in Education law — which bans teachers from discussing sexual orientation and gender identity with children under nine — and vowed to fight for its repeal, triggering dissolution of its special state tax deal for Disney World. Critics also charge Disney has blatantly promoted gay, trans and bisexual points of view, like the same-sex kiss in The Rise of Skywalker, and recently leaked audio captured a Disney producer boasting about adding “queerness” wherever possible!
“Disney has become very public relations–conscious these days, especially in light of what took place in Florida. So they no doubt wanted someone who’s more about diversity and inclusion,” squeals a mole.
Another insider remarks, “Rice is not a bad guy. He just grew up in the wrong corporate culture.”
But a fired Disney employee says the exec’s dismissal was no surprise because he himself was axed for sharing his “conservative views” online!
“The company has investigators who scan social media looking for comments that don’t fit the new woke culture,” claims the onetime staffer, who adds the workplace’s current climate would have founder Walt Disney rolling in his grave!
The ex-employee observes, “Going from Fox to Disney? Rice was a dead man walking.”
