POWERHUNGRY Jenna Bush Hager has been stirring the pot between Today show cohosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie in what sources say is a conniving plot to leapfrog both of them and reign as undisputed queen — with a salary to match! “Jenna may pretend to be best friends with Hoda and Savannah, but people around her say it’s all an act and behind the scenes she’s cutthroat as hell and doesn’t like either one of them,” reveals an insider. “She undermines the two of them by pitting them against each other while angling for the best stories, camera angles and outfits.” Other sources note that Jenna, 40, grabbed the spotlight by criticizing
Kim Kardashian’s overthe-top birthday party for her daughter North, which included flying on a private jet for a glamping trip to Wyoming. Now she’s said to be eyeing Hoda’s spot. “Word is, Jenna’s hoping Hoda — who’s already 57 — retires in a couple years so she can take charge and kick Savannah aside,” says the insider.
But there’s also resentment toward Jenna because of her rapid rise through the ranks. “The feeling is Jenna only got this gig because of her family,” blabs the insider. Jenna’s parents are former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, and her granddad was the late President George H.W. Bush. “She had no newsroom experience beyond an editorat-large position at Southern Living magazine and the monthly contributions she made to NBC on education, and yet she basically waltzed into this job like she owned the place,” explains the source.
There were a lot of grumblings then, and there still are.
“While Hoda and Savannah don’t get along,” adds the insider, “they’re starting to realize that Jenna’s not what she seems to be, and they need to watch their backs!”
