While Bennifer’s aides insist the Good Will Hunting hunk was shedding “tears of joy,” tipsters tattle he broke down after they squabbled over the surprise decision to elope! It wasn’t the first time they bickered after their late-night July 16 Las Vegas nuptials, say pals, who dish they also battled over J.Lo’s extravagant spending and his
desire to maintain his professional distance from her. “Ben only agreed to elope because he was worn down and pressured into it,” spills a spy. “But he did so on the condition that there would be serious compromises.” Although the Oscar winner, 49, and the pop star, 53, plunked down $60 million for a Beverly Hills mega-mansion, a source says Ben desperately wants to avoid getting swept up in her lavish lifestyle.
“Ben hates all the over-thetop spending, so of course they’re butting heads over that,” reveals the source. “He also isn’t keen on the Bennifer brand, but Jennifer’s hell-bent on making them the king and queen of Hollywood.”
Their wedding at the Little White Wedding Chapel — where ceremonies cost as little as 75 bucks — is said to be J.Lo’s attempt to prove she doesn’t need to flash cash to be happy. “She’s trying to show Ben she can be low-maintenance, but there’s only so long she’s going to be able to keep up that act,” explains the insider. “It’s a trainwreck waiting to happen.”
After reuniting in 2021, the super-fit songbird whipped sloppy Ben into shape with grueling daily workouts and a strict diet, say sources, who insist J.Lo’s a control freak. “Ben admits that she’s been good for him but he’s pumping the brakes on letting her run his life,” notes the insider. “He draws the line at being ordered around like a puppy.”
