WATT A GUY!

Pigskin pro pays funeral costs for fan’s granddad

TOUGH-AS-NAILS NFL defensive lineman J.J. Watt showed his soft side when he helped a fan pay for her grandfather’s funeral!

After grieving Texas teacher Jennifer Simpson tweeted she’d be forced to sell her precious J.J. Watt–edition shoes and jersey to raise enough money for the sad event, she was stunned when the Arizona Cardinals star replied, “Don’t sell your shoes and jersey, we’ll help with the funeral. I’m sorry for your loss.”

Jennifer tweeted back: “I freakin’ love you man. It’s been a hard year for me!”

Her grandfather Jerry Roderick died unexpectedly on June 20, according to Jennifer’s aunt Tara Roderick.

“We were just expecting that maybe another fan would want to buy that jersey or shoes,” says Tara. “Then Jennifer sent me a screenshot where [J.J.] had sent money through PayPal! I almost died!”

The former Houston Texan, 33, is known for helping out folks in need. In 2017, he raised more than $37 million to help rebuild Houston homes after Hurricane Harvey swamped much of the city. Says a former NFL sportswriter: “That’s why he’s one of the most popular players to ever play the game!”
