THANKS, HANKS!

Tom gives away hundreds of vintage typewriters

-

TOM HANKS is REALLY playing to type — the 66-year-old Oscar winner is giving away hundreds of precious antique typewriters from his prized collection!

Since he was 19, the Forrest Gump good guy has amassed a trove of 600 magnificent manual machines from the dark ages before computers — because Hanks was too poor as a kid to collect anything, sources say!

“Tom always dreamed of being like other kids who collected baseball and football cards, videotapes and toy cars, but growing up poor in Concord, California, there was no money for a hobby,” spills an insider.

“When he reached his late teens and began working, he decided to start collecting something and turned to old typewriters.

“But now, nearly 50 years later, he’s got everything he could want— so he’s giving most of them away!”

Sources say terrific Tom— whose enormously popular Hanx Writer app offers a free typewriter font — is whittling down his collection of

600 of the vintage valuables by donating to museums and schools, as well as giving some as gifts to friends and family.

Word is he’s down to about 112 typewriters —“and will stop handing them out when he reaches the magic number of 100!”
