Crawled into bed with dying mom Tricked by lawmen into spilling intimate secrets
PANICKED and heartbroken actress Ashley Judd cradled her dying mother, Naomi, in her arms for 30 long minutes after the 76-year-old country music queen shot herself following years of suicide threats and emotional turmoil.
Now, The National ENQUIRER reveals Ashley’s own story of love — and despair — during Naomi’s final minutes of life. In gripping court documents filed Aug. 12 to seal all police records relating to the tragedy, the 54-year-old star reveals she crawled into her mom’s bed and held Naomi in her arms throughout the agonizing half-hour wait for an ambulance to arrive at their remote Tennessee location on April 30.
Here is her own tale: “I discovered my mother after she had shot herself. She was still alive. I called 911. I then got in the bed with her. I had 30 minutes alone with her until help arrived. “This was both utterly devastating and sacred and holy, to be with her as she was passing.”
But Ashley says torment continued after lawmen squeezed her to recount every lurid detail, which she says she did not realize would “live on the internet in perpetuity.”
“Law enforcement insisted on interviewing me, a total of four times altogether on that day,” Ashley continues in the court declaration. “I was in clinical shock, active trauma and acute distress.
“I was completely unaware that everything I said during these interviews was being recorded” on camera and on audio.
A source close to the
Judd family says Ashley was thoroughly traumatized by the experience.
“She got into bed with her dying mother and held her as Naomi’s final minutes ticked away,” spills the insider. “She rocked Naomi in her arms and sobbed as she tried to comfort her mom in her final moments on earth.
“And she prayed for her mom’s eternal soul and that her mom was finally at peace.”
As if that weren’t bad enough, Ashley says she was traumatized again by the grilling the cops gave her “during the most shattering and violent experience of my life” as she revealed private and “invasive” information about her famous mom’s death — plus “intimate details of not only her mental illness but also her life.”
The bereaved daughter says she never would have cooperated with the law if she’d known “everything I was divulging about my mother would become public record for millions of people to consume on the internet.”
